Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters – Rich, Gooey Chocolate Caramel Candy with Crunchy Pecans
Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters are a timeless homemade candy that combines three irresistible flavors into one delicious bite. Crunchy toasted pecans, soft buttery caramel, and smooth melted chocolate come together to create a rich treat that’s both elegant and incredibly easy to make. Every cluster delivers the perfect balance of creamy, crunchy, sweet, and nutty textures, making them ideal for holidays, homemade gifts, dessert platters, or simply satisfying a chocolate craving.
One of the reasons these classic candies have remained popular for generations is their simplicity. They require only a handful of ingredients and don’t demand advanced candy-making skills, making them perfect for beginners and experienced home bakers alike. Toasting the pecans enhances their natural flavor, while the caramel creates a soft, chewy center that contrasts beautifully with the crisp chocolate coating. The result is a candy that looks professionally made but can easily be prepared in your own kitchen.
Whether you’re preparing festive treats during the holidays, making edible gifts for family and friends, or adding something special to your dessert table, Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters are always a crowd favorite. They can be customized with different chocolates, flavored caramel, or your favorite nuts, making every batch unique. Once you make these homemade candies, you’ll find yourself returning to this recipe whenever you need an impressive dessert that’s both beautiful and delicious.
Ingredients:
2 cups pecan halves.
1 cup caramel sauce.
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips or chopped semisweet chocolate.
1 tablespoon butter.
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional).
Sea salt for topping (optional).
Instructions:
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Step 2
Spread the pecan halves into a single layer on the baking tray. Toast them for 5 to 7 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden, then allow them to cool completely.
Step 3
If using store-bought caramel sauce, warm it in the microwave for about 20 to 30 seconds until it becomes easy to drizzle. If using homemade caramel, let it cool slightly until it is thick but still pourable.
Step 4
Place the chocolate chips and butter into a heatproof bowl. Melt them using a microwave in short intervals or over a double boiler, stirring until smooth.
Step 5
Stir in the vanilla extract if using. Mix until the chocolate is glossy and completely combined.
Step 6
Line another baking tray or plate with parchment paper. Arrange 4 to 5 toasted pecan halves together for each candy cluster.
Step 7
Spoon a small amount of caramel over each group of pecans. Try to keep the caramel centered so it stays inside the finished cluster.
Step 8
Carefully spoon or drizzle the melted chocolate over each caramel-covered cluster until the pecans are mostly covered. Use the back of a spoon to gently shape each cluster if needed.
